Around 2 weeks after your assessment, we will contact you to arrange a follow-up appointment, which we refer to as ‘treatment planning’.
During this appointment, a clinician will talk through the outcome of your assessment, check we have properly understood everything you told us, and answer any questions.
The aim is to reach a shared understanding of any difficulties you are experiencing, which we will use to guide the next steps (e.g. psychological therapy).
We may also use the treatment planning appointment to discuss any opportunities for you to take part in research; if this is of interest to you, please see the ‘Participating in research’ section.
The treatment planning appointment typically lasts about an hour.
While our service is suitable for most people who come for an assessment, this is not always the case. If our treatments are not the right type of support for you, then we will discuss this with you and consider other support that would be more appropriate.
Alternative recommendations may include being referred to another team within or outside CAMHS, and/or making use of trusted self-help resources. We will always do our best to help people access alternative support or make use of self-help resources.
